That’s my Ireland [Chapter 1]

In some ways, it feels like my first chapter of Dublin came to a beautiful end and the next one has already started.
It’s probably clearer to say it’s my first “book” of Ireland, a truly transformative journey of healing. I let this work as my therapy and allowed all emotions to work their ways through me, taking mental health days off when needed so I can peacefully walk my 15 kilometres in random places.
I’ve let myself get super excited, fall in love, cry, let go, lose and regain focus, dance everywhere, cook huge portions, share with people in the streets, photograph, do cyanotypes, gather 2 bags of trash randomly from a wild trail, redesign my career, mentor and be mentored, disappoint myself and others, rise again, rave again, love again.
We’re only energy experiencing itself and everything and everyone, good and bad, is just passing by.
I am a passenger, and I ride and I ride.
Without further ado, here are some bits & pieces of Ireland through my ancient fellow: Nikon D90 / Tamron 70-300.
// Isn’t it easy to hide yourself from yourself and everyone else behind a big ass lens? //
Happy scrolling -> Just a small selection of what I found to be my best shots of Ireland photography in this year and a half-ish.
Blanchardstown: the beginning of the journey
Castleknock – Royal Canal Way and wild Liffey non-touristic trek
Howth – can you imagine I even kayaked around Ireland’s eye?
Ended up pinching a nerve in my shoulder and having pain for ~4 months, but that’s ok, kayak season’s just kicking off!
Paddy’s Day 2023
Waterford / Tramore – this is worth exploring more 👀
Malahide
Bull Island (probably my fav places around here!)
Starting with the Clontarf promenade, I really liked living in this neigh.
Poolbeg Lighthouse, another pretty walk from Irishtown:
Galway – still to make it to the Cliffs of Moher
My feel reel from the 2nd trip to Galway is here.
Beyond the Trees Avondale
I love how the Irish care for their natural surroundings, it’s simply wholesome. Beyond the Trees is just an occasion to discover a forest and get out of the sometimes rugged city centre, escaping to Wicklow forests. Super suitable for kids & families.
Dun Laoghaire
All in all…
I often like to take a moment to look back, to acknowledge my progress but, at the same time, my gifts and privileges of a white, able body from the middle class of an EU country (even if being in a petite female body is still scary at times. But 100% not at all as much as it used to, walking the streets of Bucharest).
Cheers y’all! <3
