Prisons. So many cages, so many theatre rooms.
If the prison is a mataphor of our society – we.re all in little cages, with invisible bars, with a world wide theatre hall – with millions of tiny theatre rooms. Called Facebook pages.
Foucault never joined the gay liberation movement, for the same reason he rejected the Christianity in his childhood. For him, all such movements are the problem not a solution to finding a philosophy of life. They promote themselves as universal, when history proves them not to be.
There are no universals, there isn’t even a true inner self –he believed.
There is not DISCOVERY of your true INNER SELF, but the constant INVENTION, the ubiquitous CREATION of your self.
One ought to believe in all, but in none too much.
Detach yourself from thyself.
It is such a pity that works of great men, such as Foucault, such as Flaubert disappear under trivalries and gossip of biographies. I never liked to learn details from the artist’s life, they only clutter the visionary, artistic, profoundly spiritual works with little, dirty mundane details.
